Unison is comprised of lyric poet Steve Ahlbom (ChromePage) and multi-instrumentalist Keith Galpin. Longtime musical cohorts, their forays trace back to the dawn of the Northwest punk/wave scene.
Their songwriting teamwork debuted in 1979 in Seattle's seminal art band, the Debbies. After the Debbies disbanded, Keith and Steve went on to form ConCordia disCors. Steve also worked with Debbies/disCors drummer Peter Blecha in a band called Me.
Unison use MIDI, digital sampling and live performance to create unique danceable ballads. Elements which remain constant in each incarnation are Keith's jagged beatguitar, funky bass grooves and interweaving keyboards which create the setting for Steve's melodic ravings. The result is an unclassifiable blend of technology and emotion.
